Minister for Transport Syed Awais Shah has on Tuesday (today) inaugurated Pakistan’s first electric bus in Karachi.

At the launching ceremony of Pakistan’s first electric bus, Awais Shah said, “More electric buses will be brought to the city’s roads in cooperation with the private sector. As many as 100 electric buses will hit the road by the end of this year.”

Moreover, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has congratulated the Sindh government over this achievement as Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah added “electric bus in Karachi Commuters system”.

He said on Twitter, “The Science ministry fully supports the Sindh government in this futuristic approach and expressed the hope that the Punjab and KP governments will also take the same route as soon as possible.”

Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy and the Mobile Manufacturing Policy were approved by the federal cabinet. The decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) taken on December 16 were also green-lightened by the committee.

The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet had approved Mobile Device Manufacturing and EV Policy for two and three-wheelers.
