The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has closed a corruption inquiry against former finance minister and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar and launched a new inquiry against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the press release by NAB, Earlier in a day NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal presided over a meeting of NAB’s Executive Board in Islamabad.
The NAB chairman gave approval to the closure of the inquiry over insufficient evidence against former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
The NAB boss also approved closing a corruption inquiry against JUI-F leader Akram Khan Durrani. The NAB’s executive board gave approval of reference against former DG Park Karachi Liaquat Qaimkhani, a key figure in fake accounts cases, the NAB statement reads. Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal also gave the approval to file a reference against former CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi.
The NAB Chairman said corruption is the root cause of all the evils and NAB’s first priority is to bring mega corruption cases against big fish to a logical conclusion.
“The NAB is using all means to recover money looted from corrupt elements and a ‘surgery’ is needed for uprooting the corruption from its roots,” the NAB chairman further added.
