British member Parliament Naz Shah has opposed the UK’s decision to add Pakistan to the red list of travel ban countries.

British authorities have placed Pakistan and three other countries on England’s coronavirus red list.

In a statement released by the UK government, the restrictions will help to reduce the risk of new variants – such as those first identified in South Africa (SA) and Brazil – entering England

According to the statement, from 4 am on Friday 9 April, international visitors who have departed from or transited through the Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya, and Bangladesh in the previous 10 days will be refused entry into England.

What Did British MP Say?
Naz Shah has opposed the decision in a letter to Dominic Raab, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs. She mentioned that Germany, France, and India have a higher number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 than Pakistan. But these countries are not on the red list.

Asad Umar Supports Naz Shah

Federal Minister for planning Asad Umar shared the letter in a tweet. He tweeted, “Every country has a right to make decisions to safeguard the health of their citizens. However, the recent decision by the UK govt to add some countries including Pakistan on the red list raises a legitimate question of whether the choice of countries is based on science or foreign policy.”
