A major reshuffle in the federal cabinet is likely to be announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday (today).
As per the details, new people are likely to join the cabinet whereas prominent faces are expected to lose their jobs. The Ministers of Information, Energy, Aviation and Economic Affairs, and Chairman Kashmir Committee are likely to be changed.
Khusro Bakhtiar is expected to lose his current post of Minister for Economic Affairs. Shibli Faraz is expected to lead the Ministry of Petroleum and Aviation. Fawad Chaudhry is likely to lead as information Minister or interior minister.
Furthermore, Shahryar Afridi will also be removed as Chairman Kashmir Committee and the post will be given to Fakhar Imam, according to sources. Omar Ayub Khan may lose his position as the minister of energy and petroleum.
According to sources, the ministry of information and broadcasting is expected to be divided into two separate entities. A special Assistant will assist the premier in broadcasting whereas the information minister will serve the state.
Above all, sources said that Fawad Chaudhry wants an additional charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology along with the Ministry of Information. Farrukh Habib is likely to be appointed as the minister of state.
