The Punjab Home Department has requested the Election Commission to hold re-election after Ramadan due to the tense situation in Daska.

A letter written by the Punjab Home Department to the Election Commission has come to light stating that tension is still prevailing in Daska NA-75.

The text of the letter states that armed men brought in from outside political parties can be mobilized for re-polling. The new administration in Daska needs time to hold peaceful elections.

The Punjab Home Department further said in the letter that it would take time to normalize the situation in Daska, so by-elections should be held after Ramadan.

It may be recalled that two persons were killed and eight others were injured in violent incidents during polling in Daska NA-75.

According to a statement issued by the Election Commission, by-polls for the National Assembly seat from Daska will be held on April 10.
