The Government of Sindh on Wednesday took notice of the increase in chicken prices in the city and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners and Commissioners Karachi to take immediate action.
In this regard, the Price and Control Department has issued a letter to the Commissioner Karachi and Deputy Commissioners.
In the letter, the Sindh government has asked why the administration is silent on the price hike. The sale of goods at the issued price is the responsibility of the district administration. Rising prices are tarnishing the image of the government.
In the letter, the Sindh Government directed the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners and Commissioners Karachi to take immediate action against those violating the law and make sure that citizens getting the goods at rates fixed by the government.
Price and Control Department in a separate statement that Karachi is witnessing increase in prices of chicken and milk, and a clear violation by traders, manufacturers and shopkeepers who are raising prices by themselves and no action has been taken against them.
Price and Control department added that strict legal action should be taken against profiteers and blackmailers.
