Prime Minister Imran Khan has said a comprehensive program is being formulated to provide direct subsidy to the deserving and poor people of the country.
Presiding over a meeting to review prices of essential commodities in Islamabad, he said provision of basic commodities including flour and sugar on reasonable prices is the top priority of the government.
Directing to control the prices of basic food items, he asked the economic team to review tax on edible oil, petroleum products and other items to provide relief to the people by reducing tax burden as much as possible.
Prime Minister was given detailed briefing on strategies to meet required production and consumption of wheat in the country and to control prices of wheat and flour.
