Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has on Sunday said that her dream was to see India and Pakistan become “true and good friends.”

Malala spoke during a session on her latest book, “We are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls Around the World,” on the last day of the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF).

“You are Indian and I am Pakistani and we are completely fine, then why is this hatred created between us?”

“This old philosophy of borders, divisions and divide and conquer…they just don’t work anymore,” she said. “As humans, we all want to live in peace.”

The Jaipur Literature Festival takes place every year but Pakistani participants were not invited to the festival due to the deteriorating Pak-India relations.

But, this time, the festival continued till February 28 and featured over 300 speakers and performers representing around 25 Indian and 18 international languages and over 23 nationalities as well as major literary awards ranging from the Nobel, the Man Booker, the Pulitzer, the Sahitya Akademi, DSC Prize for South Asian Literature, JCB Prize for Literature.

Earlier, Malala Yousafzai had joined popular social media app TikTok to appeal for donations to her charitable fund.

She had joined TikTok to gather donations to her charity the ‘Malala Fund’, formed to help pay for the education of girls in war-torn countries.

In her first Tiktok video, the Nobel Prize laureate stated, “My favourite things are Shoes, comedy and reading books.”

She said, “Hi Tik Tok. My name is Malala Yousafzai”

“I am 23 years old and I’m a girl’s education activist. Some of you might already know me, you might have heard my UN speech or might have read my book, ‘I am Malala.”

“Some of you may not know me yet so I will introduce myself,” she added.

“I am a recent graduate from Oxford University, I like shoes, comedy, reading books and I also do campaigning and advocacy for twelve years for education and safe quality of education for all girls around the world.”
