Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda has been declared eligible to contest for the upcoming Senate elections.

According to the details, the election tribunal on Tuesday rejected the objections on the nomination papers of Faisal Vawda and declared him eligible to contest for elections.

The objections were raised by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Advocate Qadir Khan Mandokhail against Faisal Vawda and upheld the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

During proceedings, the lawyer of federal minister lawyer argued that Vawda did not hide any facts related to his US citizenship.

In his petition, Mandokhail stated that the federal minister did not reveal about his American citizenship, adding that he doesn’t deserve to hold any public post.

Back on February 18th, the Election Commission of Pakistan Sindh chapter accepted the nomination papers of Faisal Vawda for senate polls on the first day of scrutiny of papers.

PTI adhered with its decision to nominate MNA Faisal Vawda as its candidate for the upcoming Senate elections. The decision was taken by during a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board today with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.

During the meeting, PM Imran Khan said that Faisal Vawda had rendered services for the party.

The ruling party’s board discussed the reservations raised against the PTI members who were nominated as candidates by the party.

A total of 51 PTI members have filed their nomination papers for the elections.

Finance Minister Dr Hafeez Sheikh will be PTI’s candidate for general seat from Islamabad and Fauzia Arshad will contest for the women seat.

From Punjab, Saifullah Niazi, Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Aon Abbas Buppi have filed papers for general seats, Ali Zafar for a technocrat seat while Dr Zarqa will vie for a women’s seat.

Zahoor Agha is the only PTI candidate who will contest on a general seat from Balochistan.

From Sindh, Faisal Vawda will contest on a general seat and Saifullah Abro on a technocrat seat.
