PESHAWAR: All offenders who were seen smashing an antique Gandharan Buddhist statue in Mardan, Takht-Bhai have been arrested by KP Police and an FIR has been lodged against them under relevant sections of the Antiquity Act 2016.
They have a broken life-sized statue of Buddha that was discovered in a construction site in Takhtbhai, Mardan. According to experts the; statue was about 1700 years old. However, before the Archaeology department was informed about it, the contractor had already broken it into pieces as the local Cleric warned him that he would face consequences.
