Pakistan recorded 98 deaths due to the novel coronavirus over the last 24 hours, taking the national death tally to 14,530.
According to the latest statistics by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) 4,974 more infections were reported during this period after which the national toll of confirmed cases jumped to 672,931.
As per NCOC, the positive cases rate during the third wave of coronavirus in Pakistan is 9.9%.
The number of active cases across the country is 50,397, whereas 605,274 people have been recovered from the dread virus since its outbreak in Pakistan.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus is recorded in Punjab where 6,427 people lost their lives till now, whereas 4,502 deaths have been recorded in Sindh, 2,363 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 572 in Islamabad, 103 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 208 in Balochistan and 355 in Azad Kashmir.
The number of corona cases in Islamabad now stands at 58,557, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 88,099 cases, Sindh confirmed 265,680 cases, Punjab reported 223,181 cases, and 19,576 cases have been recorded Balochistan, 12,805 Azad Kashmir and 5,033 in Gilgit-Baltistan so far.
The National Command and Operations Center has also declared 26 districts of Pakistan as high risk.
Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Mandi Bahauddin, Multan, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Sialkot, Toba Tek Singh, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Peshawar, Swat, Nowshera, Dir Lower, Malakand, Swabi, Charsadda and Haripur are among the high risk districts.
