UMERKOT: National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in collaboration with the Government of Sindh has inaugurated its 17th “Chest Pain Unit” in Umerkot at Faquir Abdullah Dialysis Center to facilitate patients with chest pain with easy access and free of cost services, here on Sunday.

Provincial Minister for Information Science and Technology, Sindh, Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur formally inaugurated the Chest Pain Unit Management of NICVD and other officials were also present with him.

Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur said that Sindh Government is serving the people of Sindh and this facility is its proof. Congratulating NICVD administration and Prof. Nadeem Qamar for saving thousands of lives in entire Sindh by establishing Chest Pain Units and Satellite Centers at different cities of the province.

He further added that NICVD’s CPU is a gift from Sindh Government to the people of Umerkot and its peripheries. After the establishment of this cardiac facility now no cardiac patient needs to go to big cities; because NICVD’s state-of-the-art cardiac facility is available at the doorstep of patients totally free of cost.

He said NICVD is the best cardiac hospital in the world, treating millions of people free of cost.

He said NICVD’s 10 hospitals and 16 Chest Pain Units across Sindh province are busy to provide best cardiac treatment to patients free of cost.

“Within last three years, these CPUs treated more than 400,000 patients and saved over 9,129 lives who were having heart attacks but managed to reach these CPUs where they were given immediate first aid and then they were dispatched to main NICVD where they were given specialized treatment. This shows that Sindh is far ahead in other provinces and the center in serving the masses.

“I would urge the national and local media to disseminate information about these CPUs, as during last three years, cardiologists and technicians at these CPUs placed at 13 different locations in Karachi and 1 in Ghotki 1 in Tando Bago and 1 in Jacobabad, saved thousands of lives who were having heart attacks but could not reach at any tertiary-care hospital on time due to traffic congestion”, he added.

“NICVD is a flagship programme of Sindh Government and its CPUs and Satellite centers are serving the heart patients from across Pakistan as people from other provinces are also coming to Karachi and other parts of Sindh to avail quality cardiac treatment, which is being offered free of charge,” Nawab Muhammad Taimur Talpur said.
