Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood has said government is formulating new policy to make the student unions more effective for country’s development.
Addressing the Vice Chancellors Roundtable Conference at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, he said the measures need to be taken to promote patience and tolerance in the universities’ faculty.
The Minister said the universities are facing many issues including hostels, discipline and narratives that need to be addressed.
He underlined the need of students characterization, enabling them to listen and bear others opinion.
He said that the relationship between political parties and students unions have produced negative effects on education.
He said government is not against the student unions rather it is in process of formulating new policy regarding students unions to make them more effective.
