KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that his party will participate in the Senate elections and face the PTI government in the assemblies.

Holding a press conference in Karachi on Tuesday, Bilawal told that the party’s CEC had approved that all assembly members would submit their resignations to party leadership by December 31. However, the decisions of the CEC would be presented to PDM as well.

He said that PPP would stay in the assemblies and fight hard against the government in the Senate elections. “PDM can win if it contests the Senate elections together”, Bilawal said.

According to Bilawal House sources, some PPP leaders opposed the resignation from the assemblies. Members opined that leaving the parliamentary forum would not be a politically correct move.

PPP legal experts said that the resignations could not be an obstacle in the way of the Senate elections. “If we resign, then the course of action is not clear.” the sources added.

Expressing concern over the absence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary, the members of the Central Working Committee said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman left Benazir Bhutto’s anniversary behind local politics and they wanted him to leave the assemblies at his request.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that for the wider interest of the people and democracy, we have always kept our personal differences aside.

PPP members said that PPP cannot follow anyone’s dictation and is the only party that is ready for resistance politics.

“Mian Nawaz Sharif should return home and be part of the long march, resignations can be discussed on Nawaz Sharif’s return,” sources said.
