Government of Pakistan, in its motive to provide the maximum relief to the masses, has decided to leave the prices of petrol, kerosene and light diesel unchanged till December 15.

According to the details, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) recommended the petroleum division to raise fuel prices including that of petrol in December. The OGRA recommended raising petrol prices by Rs2.55 per litre from December 1 while High-speed diesel should be increased by Rs2.70.

However, a notification issued by the government said: “The Government of Pakistan in its endeavour to provide maximum relief to the public has decided to absorb most of the increase in international prices of petroleum products.”

The notification, however, said that due to a “significant increase” in the international price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), its rate has been raised by Rs 4 per litre till December 15.

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government on November 15 lowered fuel prices in the country, bringing down the price of petrol by Rs1.71 per litre.

The prices were lowered for the next 15 days as per the new policy of the incumbent government and would come into force from November 16.
