On Wednesday, Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) has decided to lay-off 3500 employees in order to lower their debts and curtail expenses.
According to reports, the voluntary separation scheme (VSS) has been introduced. Under this scheme, the terminated employees will get their dues in 2.5 years.
The air-service sought Rs12.87 billion from federal government in this matter.
According to the PIA administration, this process will save Rs. 4.20 billion annually.
Additionally, the national flag carrier has announced Umrah policy for flights from Pakistan to Jeddah and Madinah. This will remain in force till 31st December, 2020.
