The Supreme Court SC on Tuesday issued contempt notices to Pakistan Railways and Sindh government in the Railways deficit case.
According to the details, the court heard the Railway deficit case. The court questioned why the court order was not implemented. Departmental correspondence was carried out but the order of the Supreme Court was not implemented.
The court remarked that the Secretary Railways and the Chief Secretary had committed contempt of court. The court directed Secretary Railways and Chief Secretary Sindh to appear in person. The court asked why the Karachi Circular Railway project is not operational yet.
After hearing the arguments the Chief Justice of Pakistan adjourned the hearing of the Railway Deficit case for two weeks.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said that the Sindh government and the federal government are on the same page regarding the Karachi Circular Railway.
During his visit to Karachi to overview the KCR project, the Railways will enforce the order of the Supreme Court in its spirit, he said.
In the phase-I of the clearance work, the track has been cleared from City to Shah Abdul Latif Station.
