Meghan Markle made history by becoming the first modern Royal to vote in a US election. However it is not known whether she voted early or locally near her Santa Barbara, California, home.
Earlier, during an appearance on the ABC special, she had encouraged her fellow Americans to vote.
“Every four years, we’re told, ‘this is the most important election of our lifetime.’ But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action, and our voices are heard,” she said.
According to reports, a close friend of the couple noted that the royal couple had been watching the events leading up to the election closely.
“They have taken a keen interest in this election and I’m sure they are eagerly awaiting the outcome,” the friend said.
Meghan Markle is definitely the most famous part of the British monarchy to vote in a US election, she’s not the only royal who is eligible to vote. Wallis Simpson was a US citizen who became the Duchess of Windsor by marrying the former King Edward VIII in 1937.
King Edward gave up his throne to be with Simpson even though his wife was never fully accepted by the royal family.
