ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) is celebrating (today) 25th september Friday as the “National Newspaper Readership Day”, thus endorsing the initiative which will help promote reading habits in society.

To highlight the importance of the day President Dr. Arif Alvi said in his message,

“Despite the growth of electronic and digital media, newspapers still play a significant role in creating awareness and educating the people about various economic and social issues.

The president urged the citizens, particularly the youth, to develop the habit of reading to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments in the fields of politics, economy, science and technology, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data.

Similarly, the Prime Minister also expressed his support towards the day and congratulated the APNS for such a step.

He said, “Newspapers are an important source of information for all. Despite the variety of challenges faced by the newspaper industry in the present age of modern media, the importance of print media remains intact, especially in combating the challenge of fake news and false information.”
