ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The warrant was issued in the Al-Azizia case. Sharif is currently in London for medical treatment.IHC also rejected a plea seeking exemption from Sharif’s attendance in the court.
The court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Sharif and asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to execute the arrest of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader via the Pakistan High Commission in London. Sharif left for London last year after a Lahore High Court gave him permission to travel abroad for treating a heart ailment and an immune system disorder.
Earlier, he was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al Azizia steel mills case. The Pakistan government has already declared the three-time prime minister an ‘absconder’.
