ISLAMABAD: (APP) On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the authorities concerned to finalize the ‘Karachi Transformation Plan’ in consultation with all stakeholders for its approval and implementation in principle during the current week.
The Prime Minister, chairing a high-level meeting to discuss Karachi’s civic problems, said the federal government was aware of people’s sufferings and vowed to play its part in mitigating them.
The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismael, Federal Minister of Planning Asad Umar, Maritime Minister Syed Ali Zaidi (via video-link), Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority Lt. Gen Muhammad Afzal, and Secretaries of Ministries concerned.
Khan said the growth and development of the country were related to the success of their Karachi economic hub.
The Prime Minister was briefed on Karachi’s issues related to safe drinking water, sewerage, solid waste management, and transportation and learned of the proposals for a lasting solution to them.
A presentation prepared by the Ministry of Planning on the Karachi Transformation Plan was also given.
