Abu Dhabi Government Media Office confirmed the deaths on Monday afternoon, after the blast was reported at about 10.15am, arab media reported
The KFC and Hardee’s restaurants and other retail outlets on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Road – known locally as Airport Road – appeared to have been gutted, in an image shared by Abu Dhabi Police.
Residents said they heard an explosion, which sent debris across the road in front of the building, as far as 1km away.
