BEIRUT: A huge explosion jolted the Lebanese Capital of Beirut on Tuesday, leaving Lebanon in mourning as at least 100 people were killed, thousands of injured, and many trapped under the rubble.
The explosion ripped through the city’s port and surrounding areas, damaging buildings and offices around the city, social media footage shows the damages around the city and aftermaths of the explosion.
Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab says Beirut explosions caused by an estimated 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate left unsecured for 6 years in a warehouse. He vowed to punish officials responsible for 100 people deaths and thousands of injured.
