The Sindh High Court (SHC) has rejected the petition of the Election Commission (EC) seeking immediate stay of Faisal Vawda’s stay on disqualification proceedings.
While issuing notices to the Election Commission, the federal government and others and seeking a detailed reply on March 16, the court also sought an order from the Islamabad High Court in the Faisal Vawda disqualification case.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Amjad Sutho heard the petition filed by the Election Commission against declaring the petition against Faisal Vawda admissible in the Sindh High Court.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar while giving remarks in the case said that the Election Commission cannot be stopped at present. The court directed the lawyer Faisal Vawda to inform the Election Commission that the Sindh High Court has issued notices.
The court inquired as to who had lodged a complaint against Faisal Vawda. Lawyer Faisal Vawda told the court that three complaints have been registered against Vawda in the dual citizenship case in the Election Commission. Qadir Khan Mandokhel, Mian Muhammad Asif and Khalid Javed have lodged complaints.
He said that direct complaints have been lodged against Faisal Vawda in the Election Commission while the Election Commission does not have the authority to hear direct complaints.
Justice Amjad Sathoo said that the Islamabad High Court has also issued an order in the Faisal Vawda case. Lawyer Faisal Vawda said that a new tribunal could be formed as per the order of the Islamabad High Court.
Lawyer Faisal Vawda said that Shahbaz Sharif had also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court. The Election Commission has rejected Faisal Vawda’s petition against the facts. He has no authority to hear complaints against Faisal Vawda.
