A resident of Gujranwala has registered a complaint against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Punjab Police, alleging the police officer sexually assaulted her after she called the police emergency helpline 15 for assistance.
In a video, the girl said that the police officer who responded to her call raped her. She said the police have also not registered the case, as the respective DPO told her to withdraw the charges, assuring that the suspect would be held accountable.
Channel 24 News reported that Police are registering a rape case against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Punjab Police on the application of a young girl from Gujranwala.
The ASI had allegedly raped the girl. Cantonment SP Hafeezur Rehman Bugti has said the girl has been shifted to the hospital for her medical examination. He says the case will be investigated on merit and departmental action will be initiated against the policeman if he is found guilty of rape.
Punjab Police Inspector General Inam Ghani has taken notice of the incident and directed the officials concerned to submit him a report on the case.
