Asim Bajwa, Yao Jing meets Lt-Gen (retd), reaffirms its willingness to add value to the multi-billion dollar project

Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing has renewed commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a multi-billion dollar corridor, thus ensuring that the joint venture benefits citizens in both countries.

He made the remarks on Saturday while addressing Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Chairman of the CPEC Authority, at his Islamabad office.

The Chairman of the CPEC Authority said in a tweet that Yao Jing, on behalf of the Chinese government, expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan “for increased momentum and greater emphasis on CPEC.”

The envoy reaffirmed commitment to add value to CPEC and deliver dividends to the two-country people, he said.

A day earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the CPEC was of great significance as a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to facilitate the in-depth establishment of the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and to create a stronger China-Pakistan relationship with a common future.

Xi, also the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made these comments in a verbal letter to the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi.

Xi said he appreciated the fact that Alvi sent a congratulatory letter to the opening of the Joint Consultation Mechanism for the Second Conference of CPEC Political Parties, which completely demonstrated that Alvi attached great importance to and supported the China-Pakistan partnership and the construction of the CPEC.
