ISLAMKOT: The youth from one of the most deprived districts of Pakistan, Tharparkar makes it marked by an unprecedented achievement during Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE), as 9 out of the top 10 positions including the top 6 positions were secured by the fellows of Thar Associate Engineer Program (TAEP).
The TAEP is fully sponsored by Engro Powergen Thar Limited (EPTL), where a batch of 30 students currently studying at Technical Training Centre (TTC) Daharki. According to the results declared by SBTE on Saturday, 95pc of the TAEP fellows also secured A+ grades. The TEAP fellows also secured 7 out of the top 10 positions last year from SBTE.
In continuous efforts for a prosperous Thar and to create a skilled workforce, Thar Foundation is steering a three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) program for eligible Thari candidates on 100% scholarship by EPTL. The objective of this program was to prepare candidates for technical employment opportunities at Thar Coal and future projects.
According to the SBTE results, 1st position was secured by Suhel Kumar from Naukot, second by Teerath Shivani of Mithi, 3rd by Laleet Kumar of Mithi, 4th by Uttam Harji Mal from Diplo, 5th by Naresh Nathu Ram from Islamkot, 6th by Shankar Lal Paru Mal of Mithi, 8th by Dhanesh Kumar Bharo Mal of Mithi, 9th by Tarachand Debo of Chachro and 10th by Kailash Kastoro Mal of Diplo Taulka of district Tharparkar.
Congratulating the entire batch of TAEP, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Engro Energy Limited (EEL) Ahsan Zafar Syed said that it’s a proud moment for the company and for entire Thar. Fellows’ relentless hard work has yielded the results and the pride they have brought to their families and people of Tharparkar said Ahsan.
The EPTL CEO, Syed Manzoor Zaidi said, it is a milestone achieved by Thari students proving that the land of Thar has great potential to hard-working youth. “We will continue to support talented youth of Tharparkar who want to realize better socio-economic opportunities by exploring avenues of higher learning,” said Zaidi.
The first position holder, Suhel Kumar thanked Engro for giving them the platform, provided guidance throughout, and an opportunity to fulfill their dreams. “Meritorious selection was the hallmark of EPTL’s TAEP program, through which selected students came from families with a poor segment of socioeconomic status,” he added.
