The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will hold an anti-government rally in the Loralai district of Balochistan.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman who is also the chief of PDM, will address supporters while Pakistan Muslim League-N’s Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have excused themselves from attending.

Maulana Fazl, who is currently in Quetta, from where he will be leading the rally to Loralai, said the government had no moral justification to remain in power and it would have to resign as the PDM and the people across the country were on one page.

“The mandate of the people in the last elections was stolen and it is no more secret,” he said, adding that the opposition did not accept it.

The PDM president believed that there would be a big gathering in Loralai.

Criticizing the government over the recent Machh incident, the Maulana asked if the government was claiming that there was no more terrorism in the country then why the coal miners had been slaughtered.

He said there were reports of targeted killings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also. Innocent people were being martyred while the government claimed to have crushed the backbone of terrorism in the country, he said.

It may be noted that DG ISPR Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar in his latest press conference regretted the attempts to drag the security institutions into politics and said that the military would offer “chai-pani” to leaders and supporters of the PDM if they come to Rawalpindi.

“I don’t see a reason for [PDM] coming to Pindi. If they want to come, we will offer them ‘chai-pani’ and look after them. This is all I would say,” the military spokesperson said.
