The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s close aides today in the assets case. All of them are from Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat.

According to the details, the associates have been directed to appear at the NAB office in Peshawar on Wednesday (today).

Those summoned by the NAB in a notice issued last week included Abrar Ahmed and Abdur Rauf, relatives of Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

Three others summoned by the NAB included Abrar Ali Shah, Jalal Khan and Din Muhammad.

NAB said in September this year that an inquiry against Maulana Fazlur Rahman was being conducted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa branch of the anti-graft body.

The NAB had said JUI- F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman could be summoned to get his view on ongoing inquiry against him.

The accountability watchdog was also conducting an inquiry against his younger brother Zia-ur-Rahman for alleged assets beyond known sources of income and misuse of power by making illegal appointments.

On the other hand, NAB has decided to refer to cases of under-invoicing by the business community to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Chairman NAB Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal said that the bureau was giving top priority to resolving issues of the business community. He said the bureau would utilize all available resources to return the looted money of credulous investors in fake housing schemes where there was no land to offer.
