Pakistan International Airlines ATR 72 aircraft obtained on expensive lease have been removed from the fleet.

The first aircraft of APB Y left Karachi for South Africa in the morning.

According to the details, the ATR-72 aircraft, which was obtained on an expensive lease of PIA, has been removed from the fleet. Sources said that the aircraft were unfavorable and unprofitable in terms of operation and cost.

As per the sources, the aircraft were becoming more expensive than the current ones leased in 2015. The long lease agreement was an obstacle in the way of the return of these aircraft.

The first flight of APB left Karachi for South Africa this morning. PIA CEO Arshad Malik said that the decision was difficult but inevitable in the current situation.

He said that PIA is on the path of modernization of the fleet. Soon new aircraft will be added to the fleet to improve the product. Arshad Malik said that modern aircraft was the wish of our guests which will be fulfilled soon.
