ISLAMABAD: In Cabinet reshuffle, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday replaced Brgd. (R) Ijaz Ahmed Shah as Federal Minister for Minister for Interior with Shiekh Rashid Ahmed.


Brgd. (R) Ijaz Ahmed Shah has been given the charge for the Minister for Narcotics Control. Mr. Shah has replaced Azam Khan Swati, who has been made the Federal Minister for Narcotics Control.


Mr, Swati has replaced Sheikh Rashid Ahmed as Minister for Railways.
The reshuffle comes two days before a Pakistan Democratic Movement power show in Lahore.


Earlier, in a day, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has been sworn in as Federal Minister on Friday. President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath to Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh at a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The prime minister is empowered to appoint an unelected individual as a minister for six months under Article 91(9) of the Constitution.


However, the Constitution states that at the end of six months, that individual will “cease to be a minister and shall not before the dissolution of that Assembly be again appointed a minister unless he is elected a member of that Assembly”.
