Pakistan reports 89 deaths from Coronavirus in the last 24 hours – the highest number of deaths in a day since July 5, 2020.

According to the COVID-19 portal of government, with new deaths, the national toll has now hit 8,487.

Pakistan reported a relatively lower 2,885 new Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the infection rate was 8.58%. The total count of active cases is 44,218.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), with the fresh inclusion of the infections in the country the national tally of cases now currently stands at 423,179.

A total of 33,610 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 370,474 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 5,827,852 samples have been tested thus far.

It is pertinent to mention here that the city district administration in Lahore conducted a crackdown on those involved in a violation of the COVID-19-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) and sealed 59 markets and shops, 28 restaurants and 19 marriage halls.

A spokesperson said the monitoring team was headed by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Riaz, while all additional deputy commissioner, assistant commissioner were present in the field to check markets of the area.
