Mohsen Fakhrizadeh-Mahabadi, a leading scientist linked to Iran’s nuclear program, was shot dead by unknown assailants.

According to a report of a foreign news agency, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a nuclear and missile scientist, was martyred by firing from a machine gun in Absard area of eastern Tehran.

To kill the Iranian scientist, the miscreants first blew up near his car to stop Fakhrizadeh’s car and as soon as the opportunity arose, unknown assailants shot and killed him.

Sources say Fakhrizadeh led Iran’s “Hormuz Peace Endeavor” program, while Israel accused the slain scientist of leading a military nuclear program in the early 2000s.

Iranian media have confirmed the killing of key scientists linked to the nuclear program.

Mohsen Fakhrizada was a professor of physics at Imam Hussein University in Iran, a leading scientist in the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

Iranian news agencies say Fakhrizadeh was placed on the most wanted list by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.

Israel did not immediately comment on the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once said at a news conference that “remember this name.”

Israel has been suspected of targeting Iranian nuclear scientists for nearly a decade.

On the other hand, Foreign Affairs Minister of Iran Javad Zarif said in a Tweet, “Terrorists murdered an eminent Iranian scientist today. This cowardice—with serious indications of Israeli role—shows desperate warmongering of perpetrators”

“Iran calls on int’l community—and especially EU—to end their shameful double standards & condemn this act of state terror,” he added.
